Flu Vaccination 2020 – Update

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year we will be holding flu clinics at the Old Coulsdon Congregational Church (next door to the surgery).

Please be assured that we will be operating a socially distanced queuing system and strict infection control measures to reduce the risk of COVID-19. To manage this you will be given a specific date and time slot to attend for those of you who are eligible for a free vaccination under the NHS.

The letter will also have a barcode that is unique to you. It is important that you bring this letter with you as proof of eligibility for the vaccination. We will be scanning your unique barcode without which you will not be vaccinated.

We will not have the facility to reprint your letter so please bring your letter with you. Please do not arrive early or late as we will be managing a queueing system.

Face Coverings/Masks

Please wear clothes which will make it easy for you to expose your RIGHT shoulder / arm. If for any reason that arm cannot be used please inform the clinician at the time of vaccination.

We would kindly request that you do not contact the surgery to change your appointment as each patient has been given a pre-determined slot.

If it is absolutely necessary for you to do so we will endeavour to give you a slot in a future clinic which will be in approximately 2 months time.

Invitation letter for those eligible for a free flu vaccination

Age group 65 and over:

  • You should receive your letter from week commencing 21st September 2020.

Age group under 65 (At Risk):

  • You should receive your letter around 1st – 2nd October 2020.

If you do not wish to be vaccinated please contact the surgery so we can update your records. We apologise for any inconvenience caused during these challenging times and thank you for your patience and co-operation during this year’s flu vaccination programme.

50-64 year olds NOT in the ‘At Risk’ group

Please note that people in the 50-64-year old age group will not be vaccinated until November and December, providing there is sufficient vaccine, and no appointments will be offered for this age group until then. This is to ensure that those who are most at risk are vaccinated first. If you are 50-64 and you are in one of the other groups which is eligible for the flu vaccination, for example you have a health condition which puts you at risk from the flu, you will be invited earlier.

2-3 year olds flu vaccinations

We will be sending out flu invitation letters week commencing 12th October. Please wait to receive the letter before contacting the practice.
